We have to audit our unconscious morality
I will point out some things here that we normally overlook. The old gods of Greece and Rome, Egypt, and Persia lie behind names for phenomena and soul inclinations we now speak about differently. They have not really gone away.
Baal for instance, as an idol we might worship to accumulate power, influence and wealth. Often we see closely related to Baal (2500 BCE to 400 CE), the goddess idol of Ishtar (4000 BCE to 500 AD), as the inclination of the soul to indulge in sensuality and hedonism, partying and luxury to delight in the senses and the body.
